图:拥有神奇基因片断的猕猴
科学网2007年12月29日报道： 据腾讯科技消息，据国外媒体报道，科学家们日前成功在猕猴体内找到了一种能够抑制艾滋病发展的基因，并且这种抗艾滋病基因与人类体内相应的基因只有一个碱基对不同——理论上讲，可以通过改造艾滋病患者的这个基因片断来对其进行治疗。
英国国家医学研究所(National Institute for Medical Research)的科学家们认为，只需让人类的相应基因发生变异，便可有些抑制艾滋病的发展。
据介绍，美国的一个研究小组去年在猕猴体内发现了一种名为Trim5α的基因。该基因可控制产生一种蛋白质，用于抵抗包括艾滋病病毒在内的多种逆转录病毒；人类的Trim5α基因也具有相似的作用，但它控制产生的蛋白质却不能抵抗艾滋病病毒。为了探明人类和猕猴Trim5α基因的差别，英国国家医学研究所的科学家进行了一系列研究。他们分别用猕猴Trim5α基因的片段取代人类该基因的对应片段，然后将改造后的人类Trim5α基因插入人类细胞，记录每一种结合抵抗逆转录病毒的能力。实验结果证明，人类之所以不具有猕猴抵抗艾滋病的能力，是因为人与猕猴的Trim5α基因仅相差一个碱基对。
负责领导该项研究的Jonathan Stoye博士表示：“从理论上讲，从艾滋病病毒感染者体内提取一些免疫细胞，然后将结合了猕猴Trim5α基因关键片段的人类Trim5α基因插入其中，再将细胞植入患者体内，就可以对患者进行治疗。但是，细胞植入后，会产生一些与人类免疫系统相排斥的猕猴蛋白质，因此，不如直接对人类Trim5α基因进行改造，就可以达到治疗的目的。”不过他也强调，这种疗法能否成功还要取决于基因疗法的发展水平。
科学家表示，他们打算先在老鼠身上对经过改造的Trim5α基因进行试验。如果获得成功，一年之内便可开始进行人体试验。
据联合国公布的数字，到2004年年底，全球已经有大约3940万人感染了艾滋病毒，其中3720万为成年人，另外220万则为15岁以下的儿童。
